Pownal Elementery School Pownal, Vermont
Pownal, Vermont is located in the southern most part of the state. We are approximately 5 miles from the state of Mass. and 10 miles from New York. The closest large town (or village) is Bennington, Vermont. Bennington is well-known for the historic Battle of Bennington. Pownal is a very rural community which covers a large area. We do not have much business in our area so most of our parents work in the nearby states. Our area has beautiful seasons, particularly our Fall and Winter. Our community is located in the Green Mountains so the foliage is spectacular. People travel from all across the United States to experience the beauty of this season. We have grown accustomed to this season and sometimes take it for granted. When the tour buses arrive it makes us stop and take notice. We usually experience alot of snow since most of Pownal is located in valleys. The winter has been rather calm this year but then again it is not over yet. Spring is a busy time for many local farmers who have Sugar Maple Trees. Vermont is one of the top producers of maple syrup. Local producers ship maple syrup all across the United States. Pownal also has many Christmas Tree farms. You can go out and select your tree in October. We have a school population of 365 children and 21 classroom teachers.
