MSRP is funded by the Michigan Department of Education.

MSRP provides early educational services four year olds in the district.

32 children are served by the MSRP at Rudyard each year.

Children are provided with safe transportation to and from school.  Contact Transportation Secretary, Andrea VanSloten, if you have questions about the free bussing that is offered to all students. 

 

Dates & Times

MSRP programs begin in October and end in May.

bullet

Classes are in session from Monday through Thursday

bullet

At Turner Howson, classes run from 8:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

bullet

At R.J. Wallis, classes start at 12:00 p.m. and end at 2:35 p.m.

 

 Classroom Teaching Staff

Mrs. Gretchen Fountain is the MSRP Teacher at both schools.

She has been teaching in the MSRP program at Rudyard for three years.

She is a highly qualified teacher.  Mrs. Fountain:

Graduated from Alma College in 1994.

bullet

Has an Early Childhood ZA endorsement on her Teaching Certificate.

Is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Education.

Mrs. Lisa Lemmerman is the MSRP Teacher's Aide in both buildings.

She has been an aide in the MSRP program at Rudyard for two years.

She is a highly qualified paraprofessional.

She received her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lake Superior State University.

Classroom Activities

Rudyard's MSRP program utilizes the High Scope Curriculum, which is an internationally recognized, research-based preschool curriculum.  The philosophy of High Scope and our teachers is that young children learn while they are playing.  During play, young children learn about the world around them and they learn to interact with other people.  Therefore, we implement a play-based learning environment for our students.  We provide our students with a variety of fun, learning activities to help them grow, including:

Daily access to computers

Students participate in Book It Beginners where students receive free pizza from Pizza Hut after a number of books have been read to them

An exciting new pre-reading literacy program from the Wright Group/McGraw Hill was purchased this year.
