OBJECTIVE:
The goal of this unit is to develop science process skills while learning how science is used with product quality control in the beverage industry

PROCESS:
During the course of our investigation students will be asked to study several pop samples in an effort to describe exactly what a normal sample of pop should be like. They will then compare the data they got for the normal sample against a bad sample of pop to determine what may have possibly went wrong during production.

During the study students will need to become familiar with the various steps and processes involved in soda pop production so that they can more accurately pinpoint the cause of the problem in their "off-spec" sample.

GRADING:
Students will be graded on their ability to accurately determine the cause of the problem in the "off-spec" sample of pop as well as their ability to support their answer with evidence gathered during the study. This will be determined by way of a final lab conclusion that the students submit.

Students will also be graded on their ability to conduct a scientific investigation with accuracy and precision as well as their ability to keep detailed notes during the investigation. This will be determined by examining their lab notebooks that they will be required to keep during the lab activity.

Quizzes will also be given to test for general content knowledge of covered information.
